Respecting all faiths: standing against division in Singapore

We unreservedly condemn the unacceptable and reprehensible action by an individual in sending a parcel containing a piece of pork, which is haram to Islam, to the Al-Istiqamah mosque in Serangoon. Such an action creates ill-will towards the Muslim community of Singapore.
Buddhism encourages tolerance and respect towards all religions. In the Mettā Sutta we are advised not to deceive another, nor despise any person whatsoever in any place; and that even in anger or ill-will, one should not wish harm to another.
Let us live in peace and harmony, valuing each other’s right to practise their religion without fear, and be of service to one another.
