About us

A Theravāda temple, a home for the Dhamma.

Mangala Vihara Buddhist Temple (MVBT), the “Shrine of Blessings”, stands as one of Singapore’s foremost Theravāda Buddhist institutions. Founded in 1960 through the vision of the late Venerable M M Mahaweera and the generous land donation by Madam Chew Quee Neo, the temple has served for generations as a revered sanctuary for blessings, learning, and spiritual refuge.

Functioning as a complete monastic residence, MVBT provides a spiritual home for its community of resident monks, and is dedicated to preserving and sharing the teachings of the Buddha.
