Our resident monks

Mangala Vihara is served by four resident monks.

Venerable P. Seelananda

Chief Resident Monk & Religious Advisor
Principal, Buddhist and Pali College of Singapore

Venerable Seelananda began his monastic journey as a novice monk at the age of ten and received higher ordination at twenty. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Buddhist Philosophy and a Master of Buddhist Counselling from the University of Kelaniya, as well as a Master of Buddhist Studies from the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.

Serving as a Religious Advisor and Dhamma teacher at MVBT since 2009. Appointed Principal of the Buddhist and Pali College of Singapore in 2020, and Chief Resident Monk of MVBT in 2022.

Venerable Cakkapala

Senior Resident Monk & Religious Advisor

Venerable Cakkapala began his monastic journey as a novice monk at the age of twelve and received higher ordination at twenty. He is a qualified Dhammacariya from Myanmar and holds a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He is also a founding member of the Dhamma School Foundation in Myanmar.

Serving as a Religious Advisor and Dhamma teacher at MVBT since 2012. He teaches in the Dhamma and Abhidhamma studies, meditation programmes, and the Myanmar Dhamma Studies.

Venerable Khemananda

Resident Monk & Religious Advisor

Venerable Khemananda began his monastic journey as a novice monk at the age of seven and received higher ordination at twenty. He holds a Dhammacariya Degree from Myanmar and a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya.

Serving as a Religious Advisor and Dhamma teacher at MVBT since 2026.

Venerable M. Suneetha

Resident Monk & Religious Advisor

Venerable Suneetha began his monastic journey as a novice monk at the age of ten and received higher ordination at twenty-one. He graduated from the Buddhist College of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Buddhist Studies. He also holds a Master of Buddhist Studies and a Master of Buddhist Counselling from the University of Hong Kong, as well as a Master of Guidance and Counselling from James Cook University.

Serving as a Religious Advisor and Dhamma teacher at MVBT since 2022. He teaches in the Buddhist and Pali College, the Sunday Dhamma School, meditation programmes and Pāli chanting classes. He also offers counselling services upon request.
